It has been an excellent year for the team at Mining Plus. We seized the initiative and are continuing to drive the opportunity; we called the question on being a High Performing Team and as we meet the challenges of calling that question, we are mindful of ensuring we have a distinct point of difference.
One of our key values is being action oriented. We interpret that value of action in the following ways;
We are empowered to be decisive, efficient, proactive and driven to achieve results.
We plan our work.
We take the initiative.
We self-manage and achieve the desired outcomes.
We communicate clearly and concisely, appreciating that communication is two-way.
We actively manage the project stakeholders ensuring clarity and approval of work complete.
We go the extra mile to ensure the customer's satisfaction.
We are passionate about customer service and retention of our key employees.
In building our team and instilling this mindset, we refer to the message illustrated in the book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (first published in 1989, is a business and self-help book written by Stephen Covey). Covey presents an approach to being effective in attaining goals by aligning oneself to what he calls "true north" principles, based on a character ethic that he presents as universal and timeless.
At Mining Plus in this current season we have focused on that first habit, namely to be Proactive.
Seeing alternatives, not roadblocks.
Focusing on what we can influence.
Exercising a high degree of self-governance in our team, and that they are responsible for their choices.
See table below for the summary of Covey’s 7 Habits
In my role at Mining Plus, working across the offices in Australia, North America, U.S.A, South America and the United Kingdom, I am so encouraged by seeing first-hand that this habit has become a key point of difference in the Mining Plus team. It’s exciting to see this unravel as we continue to seize the opportunities ahead and the desire to continue embracing these excellent habits.
