DARLOT PROCESS OPTIMISATION

Mining Plus partnered with Red 5 to enhance fleet management and optimise operational processes at the Darlot Gold Mine. Leveraging the Fast2 Mine Mining Control System, the project focused on improving trucking fleet performance, material management, and reporting capabilities, with the goal of increasing mine productivity and efficiency.

CHALLENGES

The project posed several challenges. The implementation plan required server setup, hardware installation, and training for operators and maintenance staff. Additionally, comprehensive data collection and analysis were essential to identify opportunities for optimising the Volvo A45G trucking fleet’s performance. Key focus areas included daily reporting, maintenance processes, and material and stockpile management. These improvements needed to be achieved while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

SOLUTIONS

Mining Plus implemented the Fast2 Mine system, extending automation to daily reporting to eliminate manual data entry and enhance production tracking. Maintenance processes were optimised, reducing costs by monitoring component failures, repair times, and equipment availability. Opportunities to boost trucking fleet performance were identified, including increasing tonnage moved, improving cycles per day, and refining material delivery systems. Stockpile management and grade control processes were also streamlined to improve ore availability.

OUTCOMES

The Fast2 Mine system delivered significant benefits, including automated tracking, real-time monitoring, and data-driven insights that boosted operational efficiency. Optimised stockpile management and grade control improved ore availability, leading to productivity increases of 10% to 20%. A detailed cost-benefit analysis quantified the revenue potential from these enhancements, factoring in average grade, recovery rates, and sale prices. The outcomes demonstrated the value of technology-driven process optimisation, promising both cost savings and increased profitability for Red 5.
